Getting your music on the air

Getting in touch with us is pretty simple, and there's only a few formalities between us getting your music and one of our DJs playing it on the programme.

Permission to play

Our commitment is first and foremost to unsigned music.  We don't have a music licence from the usual authorities - unsigned artists usually aren't registered with collection societies, so you don't get a cut of the money we'd pay and your music wouldn't be covered by the licence anyway.  That's why we need you to grant us a licence yourself.  If you're logged in, you can jump straight in and fill out the form to give us permission to play your music.  Normally, you will only need to do this once - you may have to do it again if you change your line-up, though.

Send us the goods

The best way of getting your music to us is to mail us a CD, with some info about you.  If you're looking to promote a release, try and send it about a month in advance so we can get it played in time.  Alternatively, if you have some high-quality files (160kbit or better for MP3s), send us a download link to newmusic-at-thevoltsshow-dot-com, or via the contact form.  The address for CDs is:

Feedback

We listen to pretty much everything that arrives at Volts Show HQ.  If you'd like some frank and honest feedback, let us know with your submission and we'll tell you what we think of it.

Hey, we just got signed!

If it's to one of the major labels, we need you to let us know straight away so we can take you off the regular playlist.  More importantly, we can tell the world about your success and congratulate you on-air.  Smaller independent labels don't always have a problem with us continuing to play your music, on the understanding that any publicity is good publicity, so talk to them and talk to us.  In most cases, if you have set up a convenience label, you are still in control of their music, so we can still play you.
